The Assam Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ARERA) on May 22, 2026, issued a notification regarding registration of projects outside Planning Areas.
The following has been stated:-
•The RERA Authority has clarified that promoters of projects located outside planning areas may voluntarily apply for registration by submitting an affidavit undertaking to comply with all provisions of the RERA Act, Rules, and future directions.
•It also directed that registration notices be issued upon complaints from allottees for projects spanning 1 bigha or more or comprising 20 or more apartments.
•Additionally, the Authority decided to take up the matter with the Government of Assam and the Department of Housing & Urban Affairs (DoHUA) to issue necessary directions to the Director of Town & Country Planning for projects outside planning areas.
